Meet Our Staff

Windy Hazell, CEO/Owner

You could say People Growers is in my DNA. Founded by my mother, Kathy Bailey, in 1985, I grew up watching her pioneer the movement toward workplace wellness long before it was a corporate buzzword. By 1993, I was helping launch our first office in Los Angeles and building systems that still support our operations today.

In 2000, I moved to Portland to open our Northwest Division, which quickly grew into one of our strongest regions and soon, People Growers expanded nationwide.

Then came the pandemic. Like many small businesses, we were hit hard. For nearly two years, our events went quiet. But what could have been the end became a bold new beginning.

With the unwavering support of my husband and business partner, Steven Hazell, we reimagined what People Growers could be. Together, we’ve rebuilt the company from the ground up, modernizing our offerings, deepening our partnerships, and creating dynamic, engaging events that go far beyond the typical benefit fair.

Today, People Growers is stronger, smarter, and more creative than ever. We’re not just planning events, we’re producing Parties with a Purpose that educate, inspire, and uplift workplaces across the country.

And the best part? We’re just getting started.

Kathy Bailey, Founder

I opened the doors of People Growers of America in 1985, as perhaps the very first health fair company in America. It simply seemed inevitable; a college degree in education combined with my first job of managing a string of Jack LaLanne nutrition centers, then a stint in the corporate worker’ comp industry opened my eyes to the crying need for educating America’s workforce in the areas of nutrition and exercise. From the first health fair (“wellness” wasn’t even a word in the dictionary until the 1990s) at Coca Cola, where we hauled out an executive in an ambulance from the blood pressure screening station, and found potential glaucoma in a 45 year old woman, I knew I was on the right road!

In 2000 my daughter Windy opened People Growers Portland division which now hosts programs for industry in the entire northwest and nationally, with clients such as Boeing, Daimler and Centurylink contracting our services all over America, year after year.

5000 events later, we are a full-service wellness and safety program consulting and implementation service. People Growers of America is “the genuine article”, with only one passionate agenda, best embodied in our Mission Statement:

in the workplace and in our own lives.

Steven Hazell, Business Manager/Executive Chef

Drawing on my extensive experience in the restaurant industry spanning over 25 years, I decided to merge my expertise in teaching, kitchen operations, and love for food to create a distinctive role at People Growers. By encouraging healthier choices, we can showcase how great taste and good nutrition can be intertwined. With cooking demonstrations, culinary classes, and Lunch and Learns, I can offer a genuine “farm-to-table” experience, helping organizations introduce wholesome foods and flavors to their employees.

As People Growers continued to expand, my wife presented me with an opportunity to further develop my career by joining her as Business Manager. I was thrilled at the prospect of contributing to the growth of our business while working alongside my spouse. Working with our corporate clients, meeting members, and traveling across the country has been a fulfilling experience. I am excited to continue my culinary journey and expand our business with People Growers.
