As the daughter of the founder Kathy Bailey, my journey with People Growers began when my mother opened the doors in 1985 and I was able to watch People Growers change and develop as the corporate world started to embrace employee wellness. In 1993, I helped open up our first corporate offices in Los Angeles CA and started creating some of the tools and organizational procedures that are still in place today.
In the year 2000 , I was offered the opportunity to develop the Northwest Division located in Portland Oregon. Within 5 years, the Northwest region was proving to be one of the largest and fastest growing divisions of People Growers and we decided to finally take the People Growers of America name to heart and opened our doors across the country. My mother has since retired and I have had the honor of growing and running the company for the last 2 years. I am very excited by this opportunity and can’t wait to see where we go from here.
I came to People Growers in 2006 to start my new journey into wellness and a mission of promoting preventive medicine. After 16 years in the medical field, watching people fight to beat their illnesses, I knew something had to change. I felt the uncontainable desire to get out in the world and educate people on preventive medicine and early detection. I also wanted to have some fun doing it! That’s when I connected with People Growers. What could be better than planning “Parties with a Purpose”?! I have been able to organize wonderful events for corporations nationwide and use my medical skills to assist with educating employers and employees on the importance of worksite wellness programs. People Growers was started with one woman’s vision to make the workplace a healthy environment and for people to take these tools into their homes and personal lives.
This year I was promoted to National Director and I’m honored to be a key part of the growth and expansion of People Growers.
With over 25years in the restaurant industry, I decided to combine my teaching experience, kitchen knowledge and passion for food to create a very unique position at People Growers. By inspiring healthy choices, we can offer a variety of ways to demonstrate that great taste and good nutrition can go hand in hand. Through cooking demonstrations, culinary classes and Lunch and Learns. I can create a real “farm to table” experience which assists companies in introducing healthy foods and flavors to their employee population.
As People Growers began to grow, my wife asked if I would be interested in expanding my position and join her as People Growers Business Manager. I knew immediately that this would be a perfect way to continue with my culinary career, help our business expand and work side by side with my wife. I’ve really enjoyed working with our corporate clients, meeting our members and traveling around the country.
I opened the doors of People Growers of America in 1985, as perhaps the very first health fair company in America. It simply seemed inevitable; a college degree in education combined with my first job of managing a string of Jack LaLanne nutrition centers, then a stint in the corporate worker’ comp industry opened my eyes to the crying need for educating America’s workforce in the areas of nutrition and exercise. From the first health fair (“wellness” wasn’t even a word in the dictionary until the 1990s) at Coca Cola, where we hauled out an executive in an ambulance from the blood pressure screening station, and found potential glaucoma in a 45 year old woman, I knew I was on the right road!
In 1999 my daughter Windy opened People Growers Portland division which now hosts programs for industry in the entire northwest and nationally, with clients such as Boeing, Deimler and Nacco contracting our services all over America, year after year.
5000 events later, we are a full-service wellness and safety program consulting and implementation service of impeccable repute, and the wisdom that comes from hard-earned experience. People Growers of America is “the genuine article”, with only one passionate agenda, best embodied in our Mission Statement:
To promote mental and physical health self-responsibility skills, and reverence for life through education, experience and example in the workplace and in our own lives.
Tanya Beltran Trueba, Principal of California Division
I’m very proud to be part of People Growers of America. I met Kathy Bailey many years ago and have always admired her commitment to creating a top-notch company that filled a need in the field of employer event planning and the promotion of health and wellness to its clients. In my heart, I knew that we would have the opportunity to work together at some point.
My career began by working in marketing dental offices. After years in that field, I decided to open my own business, BizLink. The company was successful in promoting medical, dental groups and other businesses with clients throughout southern California.
The opportunity to join People Growers of America and Kathy Bailey came along and I knew that the time was right. I see a great future for the company and the clients that contract for our services. Not only do we provide a genuine service to employers but we also help to improve the health and wellness of their work force.
As one of the newest addition to the People Growers of America family, I’m thrilled at the opportunity to help organize and participate in employer events that promote employee health and wellness.
I have an extensive background in the healthcare industry. My healthcare career started at Health Plan of America, a St. Joseph’s Health Systems company, in the Marketing and Contracting area. I was subsequently promoted to manage the Group Service Department. Following the merger with PacifiCare, I joined the National Accounts Department as a Senior Account Manager. As part of my responsibilities, I managed the relationships with national employers such as Boeing, FedEx, Coca Cola, Sprint and others. I was the recipient of the “National Top Producer Award” during that time period. Following the merger with UnitedHealthCare, I continued to work in the Special Accounts Division as a Special Accounts Executive. Since my departure, I’ve been able to fulfill my dreams of traveling, having visited over twenty countries in the interim.
I was drawn to People Growers of America because I saw the value in their concept. I’ve been fortunate to see the shifting employer focus from one of just providing employee benefits to one that promotes a healthier lifestyle and wellness for their employee workforce. Not only does this improve the “bottom line”, but also engenders a better, more caring attitude. I see my role at People Growers as helping, through the events in which we participate, to improve the health of the clients that we serve.
